What is RGAA?

The Référentiel Général d'Amélioration de l'Accessibilité (RGAA) is the French digital accessibility standard, based on the W3C's WCAG. It defines the criteria that websites and digital content must meet, including videos and their subtitles.

When did the European Accessibility Act (EAA) take effect?

The EAA took effect on June 28, 2025. It imposes digital accessibility obligations on all companies offering digital products and services in the European Union.

What are the penalties for non-compliance?

What rules apply specifically to video subtitles?

What subtitle formats are supported?

Hello8 exports SRT, VTT and ASS, plus burned-in video. Subtitles are generated from your media: importing an existing subtitle file into a project is not supported today, though our free QC tools accept SRT, VTT, ASS and SSA for checking.
